The Australian Barefoot Movement (AEBM) Inc. is an organisation designed to help develop and promote living, care and training methods that are as close to natural as possible, and which take into full consideration the biological and psychological requirements of all equines (domestic and wild) in Australia and the world. The AEBM has a particular interest in a holistic, natural approach to health issues related to barefoot (no shoes) hoofcare.
The focus of the AEBM organisation is to provide a friendly support group for like-minded people, and to educate horse owners, equine professionals, animal welfare bodies and anybody else with an interest in equine issues, about the health and welfare benefits of a natural, barefoot lifestyle. To this end, the AEBM is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date information and developing a network of professional contacts. The AEBM is also dedicated to developing a strong and respected political voice with regard to equine health and welfare issues, and to facilitating studies and collecting data and research which support the case for a natural barefoot lifestyle.
The AEBM is totally committed to educating, promoting and informing the public through positive publicity campaigns. Although the AEBM should and must always act as a forum to present original and/or alternative views, even when such views challenge currently accepted theories and opinions, the AEBM has an unwavering duty of care to ensure that all educational information presented to the public in any medium is based on substantiated fact, not solely on opinion or hearsay.
