September 2007
It's membership renewal time again for the Australian Equine Barefoot Movement, and we do hope you will be continuing your membership with us.
What has the AEBM been doing over the last 12 months? Well, it's been a great year with many fantastic achievements, not least of which is the signing of our new major sponsor Cavallo Inc Horse and Rider. We've run a number of competitions, with Cavallo SIMPLE boots to give away to our lucky winners. We've also been able to implement the Cavallo/AEBM Riders of Distinction Awards
This year has also seen the continuation of the AEBM Best Performed Barefoot Horse or Pony prizes at a number of equestrian events around Victoria and interstate, with sashes being presented to riders and their barefoot horses, for excellence in their chosen equestrian endeavour.
The AEBM has also attended a number of Trade Fairs and Equine Expos; in most cases, we were asked to participate so that we could provide information and handouts to horse owners interested in the barefoot concept.
So, as you can see, we are definitely getting the 'Barefoot' word out there. It is the strength of our membership base that will allow us to continue and expand our sponsorship and attendance at competitions and other events.
The Trail Club has also had a successful year with rides at Kurth Kiln and the Yarra State Forest this year.
Our 2007 AGM is to be held on Tuesday 25th September, and if it's not a geographical impossibility, we'd love to see you in person. A warm welcome is guaranteed - and we will be drawing the winner of another competition! Maybe you'll even think of standing for the committee, or even just assisting the committee in a small role - there's lots to do!
Thank you again for your support over the past year. Remember, allowing horses to be barefoot is a welfare issue, the AEBM is a non-profit organisation, and all the work being done by the AEBM committee and friends is all on a voluntary basis. Your membership DOES make a difference.
